Tronics Bets on High Growth of the Chinese MEMS Business and Creates “Chinatronics”

Tronics invests in a joint venture in China to strengthen its commercial activities in the region and provide local support to its customers.

Grenoble, France (PRWEB) May 21, 2012

Almost ten years back, Tronics identified China as a potential high growth opportunity for MEMS. At that time, the Chinese MEMS market was in its infancy and there were few customers with good technical competencies in MEMS technologies. Meanwhile the Chinese MEMS community has grown fast and has developed competitive MEMS devices, especiallygyrometers.

After several years of work with a local partner, Tronics’ investment in the Chinese market is starting to pay off. Tronics now works for several Chinese customers on promising gyro projects or products, and has good prospects for continued growth. In 2011, to better support the Chinese market needs, Tronics also invested in a joint venture with its Beijing based distribution partner. The new entity was named CHINATRONICS, it is headquartered in Hong-Kong and has field engineers based in mainland China. In 2013, it is expected that about 15% of Tronics overall revenue will come from China.

Key elements of succes in China

The key elements of success for Tronics in China have been its ability to support MEMS projects from design to manufacturing, its technical skills and experience in gyrometers, its capability to adapt to the Chinese way of doing business, as well as the dedication of its local partner.

The President of our local Chinese partner comments: “The MEMS market in China is moving fast and with Tronics’ competencies and flexibility, we are ideally positioned to be a significant actor of that exciting growth”

Obviously over the years, the Chinese MEMS users will be inclined to source locally, and local providers will develop. But Tronics estimates there is still a significant window of opportunity for designing and manufacturing MEMS for the Chinese market. Hence, Tronics will continue to promote and develop its MEMS design services and MEMS foundry services, in and for China.Automatic word wrap
